Enhancing the effectiveness of NCAP’s roll out (2022-ongoing)

The National Clean Air Programme (NCAP) is India’s flagship programme for improvement of air quality. A-PAG aims to assist the government in ensuring it is effectively implemented.

Launched in January 2019, the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change (MoEFCC) launched the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP). The goal – to reduce PM2.5 pollution by 20–30% by 2024 in 122 non-attainment cities–those that don’t meet the National Ambient Air Quality Standards–in India. You can access the programme document here. A-PAG’s aim is to enhance the effectiveness of the programme so as to ensure non-attainment cities meet this target.

To this end, we have a Project Management Unit (PMU) embedded with the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), based in Delhi. Our emphasis is on identifying gaps in on-going processes and ensuring effective implementation through monitoring and review.
