Alleviating traffic congestion in Patna (2022-Ongoing)

A-PAG’s traffic decongestion intervention is an on-going project operational in Patna. Our aim is to assist the government in implementing plans to decongest traffic hotspots.

A-PAG is partnering with TERI (The Energy and Resources Institute) to help Bihar State Pollution Control Board (BSPCB) decongest traffic hotspots across the city.

The BSPCB has identified 4 traffic hotspots in Patna where a short-term study will be conducted to assess causes of congestion. We work with the BSPCB to prepare decongestion plans which include short-term solutions (such as demarcating vehicle lanes) alongside long-term ones (such as planning and deploying public transport). Following this effort, we will test, implement, and monitor the proposed measures in the hotspots.

This project began in July 2022.
